Guerrero, who has been with the team for eight seasons, is a seasoned minor league manager with 27 years of experience. His return is a significant boost for the team, as he has a proven track record of success, having reached 1,400 career wins during the 2023 season and needing just 55 more to hit the 1,500 milestone. Guerrero's 1,445 wins rank him sixth among active minor league managers, and his 492-449 record in Biloxi makes him the winningest coach in the team's history.
Guerrero's coaching staff includes hitting coach Kevin Martir, pitching coach Josh Spence, assistant coach Matt Lipka, and associate head coach Tyson Cooper. Martir, in his eighth season as a minor league coach, brings a wealth of knowledge from his previous roles in the New York Yankees organization. Spence, a pitching coach for the second season, has a professional playing background, having appeared in 188 games across MLB, MiLB, and independent baseball. Lipka, an assistant coach, and Cooper, a development coach, round out the staff, providing a well-rounded approach to player development.
Guerrero's leadership has been instrumental in the success of former Shuckers who have gone on to make their MLB debuts, including Corbin Burnes, Freddy Peralta, Jackson Chourio, Josh Hader, and Brice Turang. His management has also led Biloxi to become the first Brewers Double-A affiliate to reach the championship series in consecutive seasons since 2006 and 2007. Guerrero's accolades include Southern League Manager of the Year (2018), the Mike Coolbaugh Award (2013), Florida State League Manager of the Year (2009), and Dominican Summer League Manager of the Year (2001).
